ScriptPlay (幕后局) is a browser-based platform for Chinese script murder mystery games, also known as jubensha. Choose characters, read private scripts, investigate clues, discuss the case and vote for a suspect.
What is jubensha?
Jubensha is a character-based mystery game. Each player takes a role in a shared story and receives information from that character’s perspective. The group pieces together what happened through conversation and evidence, before a final reveal explains the case.
Who is ScriptPlay for?
The current game interface and scripts are in Chinese. It suits Chinese-reading friends who want to share a mystery remotely. The homepage describes games for 5–7 players lasting about 2.5–3 hours; check the chosen script for its requirements before inviting your group.
How to start a session
Open the script library, choose a story and create a room. Share the room information with your friends so they can join in their browsers. Once everyone is ready, claim characters and read your own scripts before beginning the discussion.
Do you need a dedicated host?
ScriptPlay handles script distribution, timers, investigation rules, vote counting and scoring. A group can play without assigning one friend to a dedicated game-master role, or choose to have a host. Agree on a shared start time and leave enough time for reading and the final discussion.
Plan a game across time zones
Send the date and local start time for each participant, confirm the player count and reserve a continuous session. Everyone should be comfortable reading Chinese. Let new players finish their character information before starting introductions.
